The moment my eyes opened this morning, a familiar phrase came to mind. I hadn’t even had time to jump out of bed before my mind was racing with thoughts from the Lord. What He was speaking was not new, actually, it has become familiar instruction over the years. However, He only speaks this to me on a few occasions. Always when there is a divine purpose. That purpose is to alert me to prepare for what He has coming my way.
Increase your capacity to receive, were those all-familiar words.
This is not the first time I have written on this subject. However, I would be amiss if I didn’t share with you what the Lord is speaking into this moment.
Although it has been many years now, I still remember the prophetic word that first brought this instruction to me. The word was… “God is taking you into a place of intimacy with Him. God has great things for you, but you can’t receive them until you increase your capacity to receive. In these intimate times with God, you will increase your capacity to receive all God has for you.’”
When I think back to the day I received that prophecy, I remember clearly what I thought when I heard it. “That is ridiculous, I can receive anything God has for me.” I was wrong.
What I later learned was that the things God wanted to give me were much bigger than I was prepared to receive. I had to enlarge my capacity to receive. My faith was at level 6, and He wanted to give me level 20 blessings, therefore, my faith had to increase to receive it.
Think about it, if you wanted to give your child a bicycle, you wouldn’t put it in a shirt box, would you? Of course not, you will have to get something large enough to contain it. So it is with receiving from God. Our faith must be large enough to receive our blessings. How, then, do we enlarge our capacity to receive?
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
You must get in the Word of God and build up your faith. It’s the best way to increase your faith level. The truth is when our faith is increased, enlargement comes. How much we receive is entirely up to us.
Today, I find myself in yet another season where God is saying its time to increase your capacity to receive. Now, when He gives me this instruction I become excited because I have seen this principle work over and over again in my life. I know if He is once again giving this instruction, it is because He has something for me that is bigger than I can imagine. Therefore, it is bigger than what I can receive AT THIS MOMENT. If I can’t imagine it, I can’t receive it. Increase must come in my faith and in my thought life.
God can only give me what I have the capacity to receive. Remember the widow woman? In 2 Kings 4:2-6; So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors–empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels and set aside the full ones.” So, she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So, the oil ceased.
The oil only ceased when she had no more containers to hold it!
If she had gathered a hundred more containers, increasing her capacity to receive, the oil would have continued to flow. It is the same with us. Our faith receives and produces what it has the container to receive. As our faith increases – our capacity to receive grows exponentially.
Today, God is saying, “Its that time again, time to prepare your heart to receive all I have for you. Time to increase your capacity to receive.” I know that He is not only saying this to me, but to each of you as well.
What are you believing God for today? If you are battling disease, do you have the faith to awake in the morning, completely healed and whole, free from disease? Is your capacity to receive large enough to embrace the healing that already belongs to you?
How about debt freedom? Do you have the capacity to believe God could remove your debt completely this year or this month? What level is your capacity to receive today?
My friends, prepare yourself today to receive all God has for you. Make sure your faith capacity matches the wonderful things He has in store for you. Seek His face and find out if there is anything you need to do to receive what He has in store. It’s time! God is saying, it’s time!
