This phrase has been coming to mind for a couple days; the process of a seed.

It reminds me of a song, called The Rose. I want to share a part of the chorus with you today.

Just remember in the winter

Far beneath the bitter snows

Lies the seed that with the suns love.

In the spring becomes the rose.

Eccl. 3:1-8 says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted.”

There are seasons in life, even in our spiritual life.  Winter is one of them.  But winter is not a dormant season.  It is not a season where there is no movement or a season where God is not working.  You may not see it, but something is happening in that dark, cold place.  God is preparing that seed, giving it everything it needs, nourishing it, equipping it and getting it ready to bloom.

I remember the first year I planted a vegetable garden.  I didn’t think my green beans were ever going to come up. I would check them every morning and every evening.  One evening I checked them just before dark.  As I looked down in disappointment, I saw, once again, nothing.  The very next morning I went to the garden about 7am and there were my green beans!  They had broken through the ground overnight…from that point on they grew fast.  But they didn’t start there, they had been growing all along, I just couldn’t see it.  So, it is with our seed.

John 12:24 says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

The Strong’s Concordance described the word ‘die’ as a temporary place of separation.

Temporary being the operative word.  This too shall pass; it is only temporary.  This winter season will not last forever, it is just a season.  Something is happening during this season; you just can’t see it with your natural eyes therefore you must trust God.  Trust His word and trust in His unfailing love for you.

Galatians 6:9-10 says, “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith.…”

I would imagine every single person reading this today has seed in the ground, I know I do.

I want to encourage you today, that seed is not dead, it is growing, even when you can’t see it.  God is nourishing that seed.  Every time you pray, that seed receives nourishment.  Every time you give, that seeds receive nourishment.  Every time you stand in faith, it strengthens your seed.

One night you are going to go to bed, seeing nothing, and the next morning everything will have changed.  God is a God who does suddenlies!  He is a God of breakthrough!  He is a God of miracles, and He is the Lord of the Harvest!  He is the Lord of YOUR harvest, and He is watching over His word to perform it.

Don’t dig up your seed with negative words.  Instead nourish and water it with the water of the word of God.  And believe.  Believe that winter is over, and your seed is about to push through into fruition as the greatest harvest you have ever imagined.  I know that is what I am believing, and I know, by the word of God, I will reap, because I REFUSE to faint.

Meditate on this!

Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. Psalm 126:5
