This time of year always excites me!  I am watching my little garden grow.  I can see it is almost harvest time. Potato plants are blooming. I have tiny cucumbers and bell peppers. My cabbage is ready. It’s an exciting time for sure.

While looking at my garden today, I thought, “any day now I will receive a call from my Aunt Sherry.”  She will say, “get your stuff ready, I am canning beans.  The next picking is yours.  And cucumbers are almost ready for you to make pickles.  Count your jars!  Make sure you have enough lids, get ready!!!”

Anticipating that call is one of my favorite things at this time of year.  I know within days I will have enough freshly picked and canned green beans to last all winter season.  I will have enough pickles made and canned to last as well.  It’s hard work, but I love every minute of it.

I was thinking about all this as I went through my jars, checked my lids, and began to prepare for the harvest that is surely to come.  You see, when she calls, even though I have not seen her beans, I know this is going to be a suddenly.  I have to stay ready.

I don’t question whether she is telling the truth or not.  I know she is.  I am absolutely persuaded what she said would happen, will indeed happen.

I trust what she tells me.

Oh, if we could feel the same way about God.  That when He speaks, as He already has in His Word, we are fully persuaded it will happen.  We can. We need only believe.

We are hearing and hearing prophetic words about harvest season coming upon us.  But do we believe?  Are we getting our stuff ready to receive it?  Are we ready if it happens today? If you look in my dining room, you will see I am ready for my natural harvest season.  I have boxes of jars set aside.  Bags of lids ready.  I have everything I need for pickling.  I am ready.  When she calls, I will load my stuff in my vehicle and head to her garden, fully prepared.

Today I must ask myself this question about the harvest I am expecting from God. Am I as prepared for the harvest God says is coming as I am for my natural harvest? Is my faith where it needs to be?  Do I need to enlarge my capacity to receive?

If you are believing God for a vehicle, are you prepared?  Get things in order as if it were coming today. If you are believing God for finances to pay bills, make a list of the bills you would pay if that money were to come today. If you are believing for restoration in a relationship, make things ready.  Ask God what He would have you do to prepare for what is coming your way.

Just as I believe the word of my aunt, I can believe God’s Word even greater.  Therefore, I need to act like it and prepare for harvest.

Just as I heard my Aunt Sherry say, “get ready!”  I am hearing God say the same thing today. For the harvest God is coming. I realize it is not as easy as gathering jars and lids, it is more of a spiritual thing. However, we can prepare our hearts to receive. We can get our words lined up with His Word. We can prepare, it is just a different kind of preparation.

I encourage you today to seek the face of God. Seek His wisdom and instruction concerning your harvest. Concerning your inheritance. Seek His face. Ask Him to show you how you need to prepare. Ask for instruction, He will give it to you – He wants to give it to you. Once He gives you wisdom concerning your harvest, act on it. The Bible says faith without works is dead. Put some life in your faith by acting on what God shows you. As you do, you are preparing for your harvest.

My friends, the world system is not our source, so don’t let what is going on in the world shake you. Trust in God. Trust in His Word. In His faithfulness. He is not a man that He should lie. He said He would provide, and He will. Just keep moving forward. Lean into Him. Listen for His voice and obey.  And then… Get ready.

Remember the widow woman? She was preparing her last meal for her and her sons, but then a prophet came along and told her to prepare to have an abundance of oil. She prepared as best she could. In the end, she had more than enough – even in famine. (2 Kings 4)

Remember Isaac? He looked around and saw nothing but famine. But God told him to hold steady and sow. He sowed in the land of famine and reaped a hundred-fold return in the same year. (Genesis 26)

In both these situations, the world around them looked really bad – but God is not constrained by the worlds system. He brought abundance for both of these people. Why do you think He shared stories like this in the Word of God? So we can grab hold of them and believe for the same type of provision.  God is no respecter of persons – if He did it for them, He will do it for you and I. The world may be in lack but I can assure you the Kingdom of God is not. Stay fixed firmly in the Kingdom of God. And prepare…for provision is coming.
