The first two weeks of July have been filled with God reminding me of all He said at the beginning of this year.
One thing that He spoke to me about early in 2020 was rest on every side. He led me to the scripture in 1 Kings 5:4.
But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.
The Amplified Bible says it like this.
But now that the Lord my God has given me rest [from war] on every side, there is neither adversary nor misfortune [confronting me].
This does NOT seem to be the year I have experienced thus far, how about you?
However, God said it and it will be so. He has promised us rest on every side, with no adversary or evil occurrence. Not one Word of God has ever failed to come to pass. This will not be the first to fail.
God knew exactly what was coming when He spoke at the beginning of this year. He did not move off this word when the virus hit. Nor did He move when the protests and riots began. Those things may have moved us but they certainly didn’t move Him.
So, whose report will we believe? The report of the Lord? The report of media? The report of naysayers or those who continue to declare God’s word? I will believe and stand firm on the report of the Lord.
These past few months have been difficult. I am so thankful God is now reminding us of what HE said about 2020.
As I pondered this today, I remembered a teaching I once wrote. It was about peace. Some peace only comes after war.
This is true.
God did say He would give us rest on every side, peace on every side. However, He did not say it would come easily.
Hebrews 4:11 says, “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
We see from this scripture we must labor or war to enter into God’s rest. We also see that the only thing that can keep us out of His rest is unbelief.
Unbelief in what? In what God has said.
He said He was taking us to a place of rest on every side. Can we, will we, believe what He has said?
Friends, I am reminding you today of what God said months ago. He has not changed His mind. Will you remember His words and labor to enter into His promise?
I recently heard a minister say, “we must press forward until God says rest.” I believe that is where we are today. We must continue to move forward, laboring to enter that promised rest, until He says “rest”. Then we will know we have arrived at our destination.
Begin today to decree, “God has given me rest on every side, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence confronting me, I live and abide in the rest of God from this day forth.”
Meditate on this:
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 2 Corinthians 4:16
