On the 26th of this month, this past Sunday, at sundown, Rosh Hashanah began. It is the Jewish New Year, more than that, it is the New Year on God’s calendar.
With everything happening in our world today, I believe this particular New Year is more important than ever.
Rosh Hashanah is celebrated with candle lighting, festival meals, the sounding of the ram’s horn and setting aside time for the Word of God. Scriptures are read during Rosh Hashanah. You can find about more about this by searching online.
Jewish custom is that a spiritual declaration is made over people during this time. That declaration is, “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.” I love that!
As I was studying this holiday, I discovered it is a set aside time in God. One we need to acknowledge and participate in. Additionally, it is called the “Head of the year.”
Just as the head controls the body, our actions on Rosh Hashanah, God’s holy days, do have an impact on the rest of the year, I believe.
My plan during Rosh Hashanah is to set aside time, as much as possible, to spend with God and to spend in His Word. Intimate time in the presence of the Lord. Beyond that, my plan is to sow my first-fruit offering for the New Year. Before learning about God’s calendar, I always sowed my first fruit offering on January 1st of each year. Sowing in the year to come has always been something in my heart.
All throughout the Bible we read that there were holy times in God, times GOD declared were set-apart days unto Him. Those were times to come before Him, hear His Word spoken, bring an offering and listen to what God had to say to His people…this is one of those times.
So, I am going to light my candles, seek my God, read His Word, listen for His voice, sow my seed and declare that I am inscribed and sealed for a good year from my God.
Although this year has certainly had many challenges, I know we are coming out of this year strong and entering into the New Year in God even stronger. I can feel it!
Blessings lie ahead for those who are following Him and obeying His voice.   I press forward to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. I am declaring and expecting a glorious New Year.
Today, I want to encourage you to make some time to spend with God during this wonderful holiday. Sit at the feet of Jesus for a while and worship Him. This is His time. Let’s make sure we remember that and honor our God.
My prayer for you today is may you be inscribed and sealed for a good year in God. May your reverence of this holy day unto God impact your new year in a tremendous way and may you never be the same, in Jesus name. May all God has promised you come to fruition during this time and this season. And may you have the happiest and blessed year you have ever had, may joy literally overtake you as you walk daily in the blessings of Almighty God.
As always, Many Blessings to You!
