I don’t know about you – but God often reminds me of the same things over and again. I assume He will continue doing that until it becomes second nature to me. For that, I am thankful.

Recently I was praying about a personal need. After several days of praying…the Lord spoke to me and said, “what is in your hands?  Use that!” It’s not the first time I have heard that suggestion.

I knew what God was showing me. I already had the seed I needed for my harvest. It was here all along, in my hands.

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord.

And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”  So, Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors-empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels and set aside the full ones.”  So, she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So, the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” 2 Kings 4

This widow woman was in a dire situation. The debt collectors were coming to take her sons away because she couldn’t pay her debt. That is a hard place. Thankfully, she was connected to a prophet of God and knew to seek him for counsel.

His instruction was simple. You have something in your hands, literally in your house that will meet the need. She obeyed and paid her debt AND lived through a season of famine without lack. Her and her entire household. That’s our God!

2 Corinthians 9:10 says; Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown…

This is the principal we see in the life of the widow.  God gave her seed. It was in her hand before the need came. And when the need came, He multiplied her seed. Her seed met her need.

I know of a Pastor who sat down and figured up what that seed yielded and found it to be a thousand-fold return.

A couple weeks ago, one of our partners and I were talking about this very thing. She shared with me how she once sowed a seed and received a thousand-fold return. She said her pastor asked God about it and God took him to this scripture in 2 Kings as well as to Deuteronomy 1:11.

God said what I have need of is already in my hand.  That is good news. But the good news goes on. He will also multiply what is in my hand as I give it to Him.

Today, many are finding themselves in a hard place financially. According to the Word of God -there is no reason to fear. God has shown us in His Word how to navigate times of famine. He has not left us helpless or hopeless. If we do things His way – we will come out victoriously every single time. If the Lord is your Shepherd, you shall not lack. You will have to stand on that promise – declare His Word and obey Him with your finances, but as you do, He will take care of you. I am beyond convinced of that truth.

God has given us all seed. The Word of God says He gives seed to the sower. Times of famine are NOT the time to stop giving, but to increase. Ask God what He has put in your hand and then give it to Him. He will cause you to reap a hundred-fold in times of famine. He did for Isaac, and He will for you as well. Trust Him. He is beyond faithful.

My friends, there is no reason to fear. Our God shall supply all YOUR needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. God is a God of increase and blessing, and it has nothing to do with what is going on in the world, it only has to do with the Word of the Living God. His Word shall not fail. It will come to pass. Stand on it. Confess it. Believe it. Walk in it.

I don’t know if this speaks to you or not, but it was a great reminder to me.  I am excited that what I need is already in my hand, perhaps it is the same for you…ask God, He will show you.

I thank God for my seed.  For what is in my hand. And for my harvest.

My prayer for you today is, according to Deuteronomy 1:11; May our God bless you a thousand times more…just as He has promised.
