I read a statement a couple weeks ago that has stuck in my mind, I want to share it with you today.
I was reading a word from someone about a particular persons recent health challenge. He was talking about how some say that his prophetic words don’t always come to pass. He then said ‘God Himself prophesied to the children of Israel that He was taking them into the Promised Land, yet they did not enter into the Promised Land, at least not most of them.’
As I said this statement has stayed with me. Quite often I get emails, letters and calls from people who say they have had a ‘word’ from God about a particular thing and it hasn’t come to pass.
There are times, like with Abraham, that the word simply takes a long time to come to pass, during that time we must continue to have faith in God, trust Him, know that what He said He would do, He will do. Have faith in God.
Then there are other times, like with the children of Israel, that we stop our prophecy from coming to pass. 1 Corinthians 10:11 plainly tell us that these things were written down in the Bible so that we would not follow their example and miss our Promised Land, just as they had missed theirs.
Hebrews 3:7-14 says; ‘Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ” Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.’
Hebrews 4:1 says; ‘Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.’
If you have a prophecy that has yet to come to pass, instead of blaming the person who gave you the word, first check your heart. Have you hindered your prophecy from coming to pass? Are you saying one thing and your actions proving another? Are you speaking God’s word some of the time and cancelling it out with negative words the rest of the time? Are you in doubt and constantly questioning God? Oh I know, these are not fun questions, but do we want to enter into His rest or not? If we do, we may have to ask ourselves some tough questions and make some changes in our life and in what is coming out of our mouth.
God says they didn’t enter in because they were constantly complaining and murmuring against God and against Moses, whom God placed in their life to lead them. And all this is truth, however, we can get to the root source of their problem by reading Numbers 4:11. It says; Then the Lord said to Moses: “How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?
How long will they REJECT God? How long will they NOT BELIEVE God?
The Bible says out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. (Matthew 12:34). In their heart they rejected God and they did not believe that God would do what He said He would do…therefore it was complaining and murmuring that came forth out of their mouth.
What is coming out of your mouth today? Is it evidence of your faith and trust in God? Or is it evidence of your rejection of His word and your doubt?
Friends, as I have said over and over recently; I believe we are at the gate of entering into our Promised Land. I want each and every one of you to receive ALL you have believed God for.
Therefore, it is with much love that I write this today and ask you to check your heart. Make sure you are honoring God with your words, with your actions. Make sure you are in a place of faith in God and trust in God. Make sure faith is coming out of your mouth at all times. Don’t miss your place of promise by murmuring and complaining against God or against the leadership He has put in your life….let words of faith and love come out of your mouth.
Trust God. That was the root of their problem, they didn’t believe God would do what He said He would do. God works in an atmosphere of faith. Jesus, Himself, said He could do no mighty works because of their unbelief. We have to trust God. We have to do as Abraham did and hope against hope – hope when there is NO reason to hope.
Even and especially if you have been disappointed over and over again, you still have to trust God and hope. It is vital to enter into the promises of God.
Today, check your heart and check your mouth. Trust God. Believe God. Trust in His faithfulness. He will not fail you if you
