For many of us, we have learned to stop speaking negative words over our lives, our children, our bodies, and our finances. And that is a good thing! But, are we also consistently speaking blessings over these same things?
It’s not enough to stop speaking negative words, if we want to begin to see life all around us, we must also begin to speak words of life.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says; I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. So, choose life, so that you and your descendants may live.
How do we choose life? We choose to walk in the ways of God. To keep His word. To obey Him in everything He tells us to do. We fill our hearts with His word. For it is out of the abundance of the heart that our mouth will speak…and it will speak…life or death.
Proverbs 18:21 is a very familiar verse. It says; Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
The Passion Translation says, your words are so powerful, they will kill or give life.
Think about that for a moment. Every single word that comes out of your mouth today is powerful enough to either kill or give life. If that doesn’t make us want to watch our words, I don’t know what will.
When we get up of the morning, are our first words life or death? Do we say, “I am so tired, I didn’t get any rest.” Or do we say, “I bless my body in Jesus name! The joy of the Lord is my strength, the Lord is the strength of my life.”
We have all heard the saying, “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” But I say, “if you can’t say anything life, don’t say anything at all.”
I have shared in the past how you can’t be thankful and negative at the same time. If you cultivate a heart of thanksgiving…the negative will fall away.
In my personal life, as I have begun to cultivate a life of blessing with words, the same thing happens, the critical words simply fall away.
In other words, if I am consistently saying, “I bless my body, I bless my mind, I bless my thoughts…” I no longer say things like; “my body aches today, or I can’t think straight right now.” I have not only stopped saying the negative words but I have replaced them with words of life.
Life and death are in my words, I certainly don’t want to speak death over my body. I can’t declare the word of God that says, “with LONG life He satisfies me” and then cancel those words out by saying “this headache is killing me.”
Friends, we must stop speaking death over ourselves. SPEAK LIFE!
Today, I challenge you to begin to BLESS radically. Bless your body. Bless your children. Bless your spouse. Bless your enemies. Bless your finances. It’s simple. All you have to do is say, “I bless ____.” That’s it! The power is in YOUR words, that power was given to you at the cross, use it. Use it for good. Use it to bless yourself and those around you. Today, speak blessings….speak LIFE!
