It’s election day and emotions are high. On every side.
With everything that has happened in our country this year, fear is rampant. No one knows what tomorrow will bring. None of us could have imagined all that has taken place in just a few shorts months. Yet, here we are.
You don’t have to be out in public very long to recognize that people are on edge. Even those who are normally peaceful and carefree are fighting to keep their peace. Anger and rage is everywhere. Fear is on the face of most people we encounter. It’s sad and it needs to change.
Today, I want to encourage you in a few areas.
First of all, we belong to God. We dwell in His kingdom. He is not moved by any of this. Remember, He declared the end from the beginning, and we win. Regardless of what is going on in our world, our nation, or even our city – we win.
Also, we remain in perfect peace as long as our mind is stayed upon Him. Keep your eyes on God at all times.
I would highly recommend you turn the news media off today if at all possible – no one needs to hear all the lies they are pouring out on a daily basis. Once those words are in your thoughts, it is very difficult to get them out.
Additionally, stay off social media – most people on there only want to instigate arguments. Do not be a participant.
It is vital during these times that we remain in the Word of God. Staying in His Word will cause us to walk in stability. Regardless of what we see or hear. His Word will steady us when nothing else can. The words of the world cannot do that. News media or social media can’t do that. Nothing can fill what God’s Word is supposed to be in our lives.
Next, remember God is love. Love covers a multitude of sin. Love never fails. If we are truly walking with God – we will walk in love. With those in our circle and especially with those whose viewpoints are different from ours. Walk in love. Let nothing take you out of love.
Not everyone will agree. That is just a fact of life. But we can all extend grace, mercy and love. We can keep our mouth shut when needed. We can speak words in love when needed. We are His light on this earth – may we shine brighter today than ever before.
We are the Body of Christ. May we walk in that Body with honor, humility and love. May our walk bring glory to God every single day of our life.
I read a sign today that said, “Whoever Wins, Stay Calm.” It also had a quote; “We are not enemies, but friends.” (Abraham Lincoln 1861)
May we remember this today. Whatever happens – stay calm. Keep your mind on God. Keep your eyes on Jesus. And pray – our prayers are being heard. God is moving upon this world – upon our nation. We win.
Meditate on this:
For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory. Deuteronomy 20:4
