Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
The Amplified Bible says verse twelve like this; A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
In my lifetime, I have never lived through a time like this one. It seems for many people and even families, attack after attack is hitting. I have friends who have lost many loved ones in the past year. I have other friends whose families have faced incredibly difficult challenges in the past year. It seems no one has been left untouched by the attacks of the enemy in 2021.
This is a time when we must stand together like never before. This is NOT a time to be backbiting, criticizing or judging one another for their beliefs. The Bible says there is something that never fails – that thing is love. In addition, according to the Word of God, one thing demands a COMMANDED blessing. That one thing is unity.
My family is like most other families. We do not agree on everything. Some of us have very different beliefs. However, when tragedy or challenges hit our family, we lay those things aside and band together. We battle together and we walk through it together. As the Body of Christ, we must do the same thing.
It is blatantly obvious we don’t all agree on things going on in the world today. We don’t all agree on wearing masks or not. On covid protocols or medications. On political views. On vaccines. Just like in my natural family, we have different views in my spiritual family – still, we are family. We are the Body of Christ, and we must band together.
Remember the scripture says, “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.”
I don’t know about you, but I am quite ready to stand back-to-back and conquer this enemy, once and for all. How can we do that? By standing together. By fighting together. Perhaps we could spend the same amount of time and energy fighting together as we are fighting against one another.
We have lost many anointed men and women of God in this battle of covid. It breaks my heart. Recently, I heard someone say the person who had passed deserved it because they stood against vaccines and covid mandates. The person who made that statement does not know the heart of God. And that is the saddest of all. That, my friend is not love. It is not unity. It is not the heart of God. The scripture in Ecclesiastes makes it plain, united we stand…divided we fall.
Years ago, I heard some really bad things about a friend of mine. I really didn’t know what to do with it – how to handle it. I sought counsel. The counsel I was given was this. If you are going to err, always err on the side of love, always err on the side of mercy. In other words, when you don’t know which way to go – what is right or wrong – choose to extend love and mercy. God is the judge of all. Let Him handle it. Just keep loving and forgiving.
The enemy is attempting to divide the Church, refuse to be a part of it.
Titus 3:9-11 says, but avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions… Romans 16:17
A kingdom divided cannot stand – and this Kingdom will stand. Make no mistake about it. Jesus told us, once and for all, the gates of hell shall NOT prevail against the church. The only question is which side we are standing on. Are we on the side of division, or do we side with love, and unity?
I realize we can’t all agree on everything. I know that. But we can agree to disagree. We can choose to love in spite of our disagreements. We can extend mercy and grace. We can stand together against the enemy and prevail. We are stronger together – let’s stand together.
Today, my friends, please examine your heart and make sure you are refusing to be a part of division. Choose love and mercy. Choose to pray for your brothers and sisters instead of criticizing them. Can you imagine what could change if we did that one little thing? If we prayed instead of criticized. There is dynamic power in the prayers of God’s people. Today, may we pray for one another like never before. May we stand together and prevail. We ARE stronger together.
Appoint My Days
I ask today, that You Lord, would flood me with an unending, undying love for others, like my love for You, so that my heart will be reinforced with Your strength, and held blameless before You. Let me see others the way You see them. Give me a heart of flesh, pliable and shaped by You.
