The Lord has instructed me to write on giving at least one day a week. This is not always easy for me. See, I have had times and seasons in my life when I felt like if I heard one more teaching on tithing or giving I was going to vomit. Funny enough, I have learned that when God tells me something, shows me something or puts something before my face over and over again, he is trying to get something to me, he is not trying to get something from me. I have come to trust that in him.
Frankly, 95% of the emails I get or the calls I get are from people needing a financial breakthrough. It is a big problem in the body of Christ. It shouldn’t be this way.
Many people, certainly not all, but many who need a financial breakthrough are not consistent tithers or consistent givers. They give every now and then and are not happy when they get a breakthrough in their finances every now and then.
I want a consistent harvest therefore I am a consistent tither and giver. Many say they can’t afford to give, I can’t afford not to give. First of all, everything I have belongs to God, giving him what he asks of me is a small thing considering the fact that he promises to protect what is left AND he does.
It is the law of sowing and reaping, if I withhold from him, he will withhold from me. I cannot afford that therefore I keep the windows of heaven open over my finances by giving and tithing as I have increase. And I do it with a thankful and willing heart. It was not always that way with me, I used to give because I had to and grudgingly however, God dealt with me about that as well.
Many of you know, Breanne went through this same thing several years ago. They were in a hard place and she would say she couldn’t afford to tithe and give. She stayed in a hard place for quite some time, needing breakthrough after breakthrough….finally she made up her mind to be faithful in her tithe….she is now blessed. She usually has extra and she always is able to save for whatever she wants, whether it be a horse, or a barn or whatever is in their heart. I have watched her faithfulness to God bring his faithfulness on the scene.
The devil does not want us to be givers. If all the church were givers, there would be no lack and he knows that.
I was studying sowing today and came across something I had read before but I found it very insightful yet again….I love how the word does that! I was doing a word study on the word sow and found, of course, it means to scatter seeds however, as I dug deeper it means to take out your sword.
When you sow a seed you take out your sword and defend what belongs to you through the covenant of God. When you sow a seed you take out your sword and say ‘devil, I will have the abundant life Jesus died to give me!’ When you sow a seed you take out your sword and say ‘devil, you are not having one penny of mine, my money is protected by the covenant of my God, I am blessed and not cursed.’
So you see, sowing shouldn’t be a desperate thing – it is a time when we decide to take out our sword and fight for what belongs to us. I don’t know about you but this causes me to see sowing as an aggressive weapon of God! Our sowing is our sword – I just love that!
Today, I am going to leave you with a few scriptures to remind you what God’s word says about your sowing sword. And the next time you sow a seed – see it as a sword – take out your sword and protect your covenant rights to prosperity.
Galatians 6:7 – Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap.
Luke 6:38 – Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
2 Corinthians 9:10-11 – Now he that ministers seed to the sower both minister bread for [your] food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
Malachi 3:10 – Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].
2 Corinthians 9:6 – But this [I say], He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Proverbs 28:20 – A faithful man shall abound with blessings.
Prayer for Today: Father, today I take out my sword and I fight for my covenant blessings. I realize part of my sword is my sowing, I thank you that my seeds come before you today and you remember your covenant with me. I thank you that I live the abundant prosperous life Jesus died to give me – today I choose to walk in your word and eat of your covenant. In Jesus name. Amen.
