And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18

I was meditating on this scripture a couple weeks ago, when I began to ask God to show me insight into this scripture.

I know from times of study, the word power, in this scripture is also translated, ability.

We serve a God who gives us the power and ability to prosper. The word says, ‘to establish His covenant with us.’

God will fulfill His word concerning this promise, to everyone who can believe, and to everyone who will press in and lay hold of it. But how, and what do we do?

I am fully persuaded that every answer we could ever need is found in His holy, unchanging word. Whatever we have need of, if we search for it, we will find it, in the word of God.

Joshua 1:8 says; This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

The first thing we must do is spend time in the word of God. Meditate on His word and His promises. We are promised that as we do, our way will be prosperous, and we will have good success. That is reason enough, don’t you think?

Every day I serve God I become more convinced that He wants us to prosper even more than we want to prosper, and He has already made the way, the only thing that remains is to follow His way.

As we stay in His word, we learn about His way of doing things, His way of becoming more prosperous. Then, if we become a doer of the word of God, we will do things His way. Once we do that, we begin to see the fulfillment of His promises.

His way is found in His word. One of the ways He has given us to become more prosperous is found in Luke 6:38, a familiar scripture to all.

Luke 6:38 says; Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

You have heard it said before, but it bears repeating, you cannot out-give God. Luke 6:38 is a sure way to increase what you have in your hand. As we give, it is given unto us, good measure, shaken together and running over…clearly, that is more than we gave.

We see this same principal in Matthew, in the parable of the sower.

Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:3-10

We are all familiar with the parable of the sower – I believe the key in this verse is…he who has ears to hear, let HIM hear. Not everyone wants to hear this message.

Everyone wants to prosper, but not everyone wants to do it God’s way. But my friend, there is no other way, only His way.
If you are ever going to experience true prosperity, you must do it God’s way. You must give Him what belongs to Him, do not withhold it. And you must give as He says give.

I am not where I intend to be concerning prosperity HOWEVER, I am certainly not where I used to be, far from it, why? Because I gave when I only had little to give and I tithed faithfully. I have done that for twenty plus years and today, I am blessed. I was faithful in little and I will be faithful in much.

Today, if you are not walking in the fulness of the prosperity of God, check your heart. Meditate on the word of God concerning prosperity and ask God to show you HIS way for YOU to prosper. He is faithful, He will do it.
