Yesterday was a busy day for me. I got up early, made some food to take to my cousin who is in the hospital. Once that was prepared, I loaded my vehicle and headed out to do my errands, plugging in my phone as I went so I could listen to worship music on the way.
A familiar song began to play, one I had heard hundreds of times. However, this time, it captured my attention. The song was Love Song, by Third Day.
I had always thought it was written from the perspective of us singing to Jesus. However, in that moment, I realized it was written from the perspective of JESUS singing to us. The words of this song began to wash over me until I was undone with the love that Jesus has for each one of us.
Some of the words say, “I’ve heard it said a man would climb a mountain to be with the one he loves…” Then with Jesus singing to us, it says, “I didn’t climb the highest mountain, but I walked the hill of Calvary…” Over and over again I listened to the words of this song allowing His love to wash over me. It was a glorious, refreshing time in the Lord.
I want to share the last part of this song with you today – this part caused me to be totally undone.
I know that you don’t understand
The fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don’t realize
How much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again
Just to be with you, I’ve done everything
There’s no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away
(Third Day – Love Song)
The love of God. The Love of His Son. I don’t believe many of us have a full revelation of the fierceness of His love for us. No, He didn’t climb a mountain to prove His love – but He did walk up a hill, and hung on a cross for our sins, for our healing and for our peace of mind. He may not have swum across an ocean, but He did walk on a raging sea to get to those who belonged to Him. And…He would do it again. Oh, my goodness.
Jesus paid the ultimate price – He left nothing on the table – He paid it all. For our sins. For our healing. For our prosperity. But mostly…because God wanted a relationship with you and me. All that, just to be with us – can you even imagine that kind of love?
I want a more of a divine revelation of that love, don’t you?
It is my prayer for you that God would reveal the immensity of His love for you this very month. That it would no longer be just head knowledge but a revelation of the heart.
Ephesians 3:16-19 says, “that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
That we may comprehend, what is the width, length, depth, and height of His love…only then are we filled with the fullness of God.
This month, my friend, may you EXPERIENCE, the fullness of God – may you comprehend the immeasurability of His love for you and be filled with all that He is…that is my prayer for you.
