The goodness of the Lord never fails me
The goodness of the Lord it overwhelms me
The goodness of the Lord is always true
The goodness of the Lord never fails me
The goodness of the Lord it overwhelms me
The goodness of the Lord will see me through

These are the words of the chorus to a song Kelita shared with me one day. The song is by Travis Ryan and I just love it.

As I listened to the words, I was reminded of a scripture God spoke to my heart many years ago.

I was driving to Pennsylvania to help a friend; it was years before cell phones were common. As I drove along the interstate God spoke to me. He said, “Psalm 27:13.” I waited for Him to continue…which He did. He said, “this is your life scripture.”

It was a couple hours before I arrived at my hotel and could look up the scripture. I remember at the time thinking… “Wow, I will see the goodness of God in my life.”

I didn’t realize at the time that is was as much a warning, as it was a promise. All I knew at the time was that His goodness would be a big part of my life.

I thought of that day as I listened to the words of the song, The Goodness of the Lord. I began to meditate on His goodness, which led me to the word of God.

Goodness is defined in the Strong’s Concordance as; good things, property, prosperity and the goodness of God.

In the Webster’s 1828 dictionary, goodness is defined as; kindness, benevolence, acts of kindness and favor shown.

One part I love of the definition is acts of kindness. I often talk about doing acts of kindness. As we do acts of kindness, we are also sowing a seed for a harvest of His acts of kindness toward us. We are sowing goodness…. isn’t that awesome!

As I continued to study God’s goodness, I came across several scriptures concerning His goodness. Let me share them with you today;

Psalm 27:13; I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Psalm 107:14-21; He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron in two. Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Exodus 34:6; And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.

2 Chronicles 6:41; Now therefore, Arise, O Lord God, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let Your saints rejoice in goodness.

Jeremiah 31:12; Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of the Lord– For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, And they shall sorrow no more at all.

Jeremiah 31:14; I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.”

Psalm 23:6; Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Psalm 33:5; He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

Once I completed looking up scriptures, I felt the Lord led me to create a declaration concerning the goodness of God, one we could all declare for the rest of the month.

The Bible says, we shall declare a thing and it shall be established. I believe as we begin to declare the goodness of God in our life, we will see His goodness manifest more and more in our daily lives.

Today, I leave you with the declaration the Lord had me create from the scriptures I shared with you, I pray it is a blessing to you and I pray you see more and more of His goodness as you begin to daily declare His goodness in our lives.

Declaration of Goodness

I will not lose heart for I see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

He has brought me out of darkness, He has broken all my chains in pieces, I AM FREE! Thank you, God for Your goodness and wonderful works, toward me and my family. You heard me when I cried out to You and You saved me from all distress. You sent Your word and healed me and delivered me from all destruction. I give thanks today to You, for Your goodness and Your wonderful works toward me.

The Lord is with me and He is proclaiming over me… “the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,” therefore I am abounding this day, in mercy, grace and the goodness of God.

My God has arisen and clothed me with His salvation and caused me to rejoice in His goodness.

I sing of the goodness of the Lord as streams of His goodness overwhelm me. My soul is like a well watered garden and I sorrow no more.

God has saturated my soul with abundance, and I am fully satisfied with His goodness which is abounding toward me.

Goodness and mercy follow me every single day of my life. I dwell in God’s presence daily, forever. The whole earth is filled with the goodness of my Lord. Selah.

Psalm 27:13, Psalm 107:14-21, Exodus 34:6, 2 Chronicles 6:41, Jeremiah 31:12,14, Psalm 23:6, Psalm 33:5

Meditate on this:

The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth. Exodus 34:6
