Is the power of God at work in your life? Of course, it is!

I was thinking about the power of God today.

Most of the time when we think about the power of God we tend to think about the demonstration of miracles, signs and wonders. And that is indeed the manifestation of the power of God. However, that is not the only manifestation of the power of God…and it’s the other manifestation I want to talk about today.

The power of God in the Bible is the word dunamis and it means the power to do something, to be capable, strong and powerful, as well as the power of God.

It was the dunamis at work in Mary when she conceived baby Jesus, we all know that. But it was also the power of God at work in Mary that empowered her to endure the 9 months leading up to the birth of Jesus. It was the dunamis at work in her that caused her to endure the criticism, the ugly looks and the words that must have been spoken behind her back. It was also the same dunamis of God that empowered her to endure watching her son on the cross.

Jesus, we know, performed many miracles. He healed the sick, opened blind eyes, raised the dead and fed the thousands. It was the dunamis, the power of God, in Him that empowered Him to do that. But that is not all it empowered Him to do.

Hebrews 12:2 says Jesus endured the cross…. for the joy that was set before Him. The same power that flowed through Jesus empowering Him to perform miracles and wonders was present in Him to equip Him to endure the cross and all that it entailed.

Dunamis is a two-sided power. It causes breakthroughs to come forth, yes indeed, but it also is the power at work enabling us to endure until the breakthrough comes.

Acts 1:8 promised us that we would receive power from on high, the power of the Holy Ghost, and we have indeed received the promised power.
1 Corinthians 2:5 says; your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Romans 15:13 says; Now the God of hope full you with all peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.
So, we see from these scriptures that the power of God…not only brings forth our breakthrough but it also empowers us to stand firm while we are waiting on our breakthrough.

It is no surprise to anyone reading this today that we have seasons of breakthrough and seasons of enduring BEFORE the manifestation of the breakthrough. We have all been through both. But did you realize the same power that brings breakthrough can empower you to stand firm until the breakthrough comes? Yes, it is the same power.

Before you were born again, Jesus provided all you would ever need to be able to obtain victory through His blood. He provided the power you would need to see your breakthrough AND He provided the power you would need to stand strong in the time before the breakthrough.

Have you ever found yourself thinking, ‘I can’t take this anymore?’ I think we all have. But when we realize there is a power at work in us, empowering us to stand strong, then we can draw from that power within and stand. And then, having done all, we can stand some more.

I love what Romans 15:13 says and this is my prayer for you today. May the God of hope, fill you with all peace, total completeness, in what you are believing for, so much so that you are ABOUNDING in HOPE through the power of the Holy Ghost, through the dunamis of God.

You see, my friend, it is HIS power at work in you that fills you with hope. Today, draw deeply from that power within you and let hope arise, so that you, having done all, can stand firm in peace. Hallelujah!

Prayer for today: Father, I thank you for the dunamis that is at work in me, empowering me to stand firm until I see my breakthrough! I thank you and I give you praise, in Jesus name. Amen.
