This week as the news media was predicting storms and tornados in my area, God reminded me of another time this same thing happened.
It was a couple years ago; the news stations were warning everyone of severe weather coming our way – tornados were expected in our county. The day after the storms came through Breanne and I were talking about how we had prayed through the night and how thankful we were that God had protected us, our property, and animals.
Then, Breanne shared a story with me. She said it was thundering and lightening and it sounded horrible outside. She continued to share how she was praying when suddenly a song came up in her heart, one she hadn’t heard in many years. I’m sure you know it. The words go like this, “He has made me glad! He has made me glad! I will rejoice for He has made me glad.”
She shared with me how at first it felt odd to her, but the song simply would not go away, so she began singing it and continued singing it. As she shared this story with me, I was taken back to the time when I was bitten by a brown recluse spider. I remember it as if it were yesterday.
My Mom and I were cutting away brush in my back yard. Suddenly I saw a spider, a big spider, crawling down my right leg. I did not panic, I didn’t jump or anything, I simply watched it go down my leg. As I watched, suddenly a song came up in my heart and I began to sing. I sang, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work. Oh no weapon formed against me shall prosper.” That song stayed in my heart and coming out of my mouth for the remainder of that day.
It wasn’t until the following morning I discovered I had indeed been bitten by a brown recluse. For days I battled that bite. I was told I would lose my leg. Things didn’t look good for a while. Still, that song remained in my heart. I received a healing from God that week. God put a song in my heart, even as the weapon was formed, to help me overcome and lay hold of complete healing.
Ephesians 5:18-19 says, “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
This scripture reminds us that when we are filled with the spirit, psalms, hymns and spiritual songs will come out of our heart. I’ve experienced that truth many times. When the enemy tries to come against you with challenges or fears, does a song will arise in your heart? If so, don’t take it lightly, it is a song from your spirit and the words will carry an awesome anointing as you sing them out of your mouth.
The song that came up in Breanne’s spirit gave her peace and removed all fear. The song in her spirit empowered her to sleep through the worst storm we have seen in a long time.
The song that came up in my spirit that day caused me to stand in faith, overcome and receive complete healing, which was, in fact, a miracle.
Psalm 40:3 says, “He has put a new song in my heart.”
In this scripture the word new means to renew or make new. I love that!
You see, God puts a song in our heart, one that comes up from our spirit, to combat whatever has come against us and to make things new again, which is exactly what happened with my leg.
Perhaps the song in our heart helps bring forth a new thing.
The next time you are in the midst of a battle, or the beginning of a challenge and a song arises in your spirit, SING! Sing it until you feel a breaking through. As you sing, you are singing the end from the beginning. You are literally declaring the end from the beginning with anointed words from the Spirit of God, Himself. And nothing can stand against that.
For me, the anointed song was No weapon formed against me shall prosper…and the weapon didn’t prosper; I declared through song, MY end from the beginning.
For Breanne, her anointed song was, He has made me glad…and He did…she declared her end from the beginning.
How faithful is our GOD! He puts a new song in our heart. He anoints that song and empowers us to sing and declare the end from the very beginning!
God is putting a song in your heart today, listen for it, expect it, and know that it is one that will declare your end from the beginning. Now… SING! SING! SING!
