One thing I have always loved is the morning after a storm.
I woke up early one morning after an overnight storm. The storm had been intense, so much so that we lost power. We had a great deal of thunder and lightning, and high winds. I wasn’t sure what I would wake up to the next morning.
As I pulled the drapes back, the sunrise was breathtaking! The sky was bright blue, and the birds were singing. Ah…the morning after a storm.
My mind quickly went to the storms of life we often walk through. We all go through them. No one is exempt. However, how we walk through them often determines our outcome.
Many lose faith in God and His word during storms. However, some become even more resolute in their faith. It can go either way.
God has made us promises in His word concerning these challenging times.
One of my favorites is found in Deuteronomy 31:8; And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
I can attest to this truth! No matter what we walk through, if we will continue to trust God, He will not leave our side. He will walk through it with us. Just as there was a fourth man in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, God walks with us in every challenging situation.
If we find we can’t take another step, He picks us up and carries us through. I love that about Him.
Which brings me to another wonderful promise. If God is with us, and He is, who and what can stand against us? (Romans 8:31)
There have been many times I would pray and ask God to deliver me from certain situations, most of the time, He did not. Most of the time, He simply walked me through it. Was this my preferred way? Absolutely not. But I have learned that I gained fruit and stability during those times that I couldn’t have gotten any other way.
It all comes down to trust.
Do you trust God in the storm? When you are sitting in the dark, with nothing but the sound of things blowing and crashing around you, do you still trust Him?
I am not saying it is easy, but He has made it possible. Trusting Him in the storm is the key.
If you choose to trust Him in the storm, it will be just like it was for me this morning. You will awake one day to a bright, sunny sky. The beauty of a new sunrise. The singing of birds. Then you will know you have made it through the storm.
I could testify of His faithfulness in storms for hours. He has walked with me through things I didn’t think I could survive. And most of the time, I walked alone, just Him and I. I did survive. Not only survive, but I learned to lean on Him and thrive during those seasons. Oh my! He is so very faithful. He is pure love manifested.
My friend, I don’t know what type of storm you find yourself in today, but this I do know. You can trust Him in the storm. It may rage around you, shouting to you. Don’t listen. Keep your eyes upon God, He will keep you in peace. Keep your ears tuned in to His voice, He will speak to you. Keep your heart set on Him – He will never leave you nor forsake you – and He will bring you out into an abundant place.
You have His word on it. You will see the dawning of a new day…after the storm. The sun will burst through again…watch for it!
Appoint My Days
I speak only life today for Jesus has destroyed a murmuring and complaining tongue in my life. My tongue will speak forth words of life today and I will eat the fruit of my lips. My words will produce spiritual life in the hearts of men and women.
John 6:63, Proverbs 18:20
