I was recently thinking about the word of God and all that it is to us. I believe at times we become accustomed to the word of God and forget the power that lies within God’s word. Today, I want to remind you of some of the power of the word of God.
Don’t just read these scriptures today. Meditate on them, let them go deep within your heart. As you do, they will spring up and bring life to you.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
The word of God is alive. As you read it and meditate on it, it goes into the deepest part of your heart. It judges and adjusts any wrong thoughts or mindsets that we may have.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
It is the word of God that teaches us. Not only teaches us, but if we will allow it to, it will also correct us. As we are taught and corrected, we will find we are equipped for every good work.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105
Do you find yourself in a situation where you do not know which way to go? Do you need the light of God to shine on your ways? If so, His word will help you find the way to go. His word is your light on every path you take.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. Isaiah 40:8
I love this! To endure implies the power to sustain without flinching or breaking. Don’t you love that?! His word in us, gives us the ability to stand firm in our faith without flinching. Without falling apart or breaking under the pressure. His word will endure.
Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24
The word of God is a must have for the wise. It is a wise man who builds His life upon the word of God. However, it is not only reading the word of God but also putting it into practice. We must not only be hearers of the word. We must also be doers of the word of God. Wisdom comes from hearing and doing the word of God in our everyday life.
The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130
This scripture is awesome. I love the way it says…the unfolding of Your word gives light.
The word unfolding means an opening, a doorway of sorts. It is the entrance to a new life, a better way, a way of the wise. It all begins with the word of the living God.
Finally, John 1:1 says; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
As the word of God becomes a daily part of your life, not only are you saturating yourself with the word of God…you are saturating yourself with God Himself. The word is God.
Today, take a few moments and remember the life-giving, unfolding, teaching, and enduring word of God. You will be so glad you did.
Meditate on this;
God keeps every promise He makes. He is like a shield for all who seek His protection. Proverbs 30:5
