“There’s something in the dance, Kim.” These were words a friend spoke to me this week after I shared a testimony with her.
You see, I had experienced something very odd and didn’t realize the protection of God until after the fact. I stand in awe of God’s goodness in my life, especially on this day.

I was at my office early one morning last week. I usually arrive at work very early because I can get a lot accomplished before others come in and people begin to come by the office. Therefore, it was around 6:30 am and I had already been at work for an hour or so.

We live in a small city, thankfully, there is not a lot of crime here, therefore I don’t think a lot about going in that early. Every now and then I will keep the door locked when I am there alone, but mainly because I am in prayer and don’t want to be disturbed.

However, this particular day I did not lock the door. I was busy working when I noticed a van pulled into our parking lot. We have businesses all around us therefore I didn’t think too much of it. I continued working. I did glance out every now and then to see what the man in the van was doing since he continued sitting there. I did get a good look at his face because he was so close to our door. He got out of his van a couple times and walked around but didn’t come near my door.

About the same time, I got a text from Carol, one of our prayer leaders. She said, ‘have you danced in the room today?’ I knew she was referring to the prayer and healing room. I responded ‘No, I have not.’ She texted back ‘I think you should go dance in the room.’ So, me, not wanting to miss God, got up, walked into the prayer room, turned on music and began to dance before the Lord.

The funny thing is we have moved our rooms around and I hadn’t put up window coverings in the prayer room yet, therefore the man in the van could see everything I was doing. But I danced on. I danced before the Lord until I felt it was okay to stop. Once done, I went back to work.

A little while later a man who has a business beside us came into the office and said, ‘did you see the man in the van?’ I said ‘yes, I did.’ He said, ‘I don’t like him, there is something not right about him, he is up to no good, watch out for him and watch the kids that come through here, I don’t like him.’ I said ‘okay, I will.’ He said, ‘he has tattoos of satan all over him, I just don’t feel right about him.’ I laughed and said ‘okay, I will be careful.’

I didn’t think much more about it. Later that day, the same man, the one in the van, shot and killed a man while robbing him. God protected me and I didn’t even know it.

I later said to Carol, ‘your instruction to dance before God may have saved my life.’ She replied ‘there is something in the dance, Kim.’
I was reminded of another time God led me to dance before Him.

I have shared this story before in detail, today I will make it brief. It was when my Dad died, we buried him on Saturday and Sunday God told me to go on to church. I didn’t want to, I wasn’t ready. But I went. At church, during praise and worship God told me to go up and dance before him.

I said ‘God, I can’t do that today.’ But He insisted, and I obeyed. As I danced before the Lord that day, He completely delivered me of the grieving for my Dad, I never again grieved for my Dad, not one more day. He completely removed the mourning as I danced before Him. There IS something in the dance.

Psalm 30:11 says; You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.

I realize this scripture is talking about God causing us to dance, but we are people of faith and I know from experience, if you dance when you are mourning, God will remove the spirit of grief from you and fill you with joy. He is an amazing God and there is something powerful that happens as we dance before the Lord.

Psalm 150:4 says; Praise Him with the timbrel and dance.

Psalm 149:3 says; Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.

I don’t not know what is going on in your life right now, but if you have done all you know to do and still haven’t seen breakthrough or if you can’t seem to get past the hurt and disappointment, try dancing before the Lord…there is, indeed, something in the dance.

Prayer for Today: Thank you Lord for blessing us as we praise and dance before you. In Jesus name. Amen.
