And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Eccl. 4:12
A three-fold cord is not easily broken.
That is the scripture that came to mind as I listened to a message over the weekend. The man of God was saying, “there is a time for prayer, a time for prophesying and a time for blessing.”
I had never heard it put that way before, but it made perfect sense.
Eccl. 3:1 says; There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
There is, of course, a time to pray.
Psalm 5:3 says: In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
James 5:16 says; The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Corrie Ten Boom once said, “Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.”
Prayer is an important part of the Christian life. As we keep our hearts right before the Lord, He hears our prayers and He responds.
Mark 11:24 teaches us; Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
There is a time for prayer. Every single day is a time for prayer.
There is also a time to prophesy and decree.
The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. When we use our words to speak the word of God into a situation, great power is released. (Proverbs 18:21)
Job 22:28 says; Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Mark 11:22-23 says; Have faith in God, Jesus said to them. Truly I tell you that if anyone says to this mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the sea, and has no doubt in his heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for him.
There is time for prayer and a time for speaking to the mountain. For instance, if you are believing God for healing, the Bible says by His stripes you were healed. Healing already belongs to you. Therefore, speak to your body and command it to line up with the word of God.
If you need finances. You already know God has promised to meet your needs as you are faithful to give to Him what belongs to Him. Therefore, speak to your bills and command them to be paid in full. Speak to money and call it forth. Speak to your debts and call them paid in Jesus name. Tell your finances to line up with God’s promises! Speak to your mountain!
Finally, there is a time to bless.
This one is something I haven’t done often. I pray about many things. I declare and decree the word of God quite often. But I haven’t spent a lot of time blessing people or things in my life.
This was an eye-opener for me.
We see this practiced all throughout the Old Testament. In Genesis 27, Isaac blessed Jacob with spoken words. The words Jacob was blessed with came to pass in his life.
In Genesis 29, Jacob blessed his sons. Again, whatever he spoke over each individual son was what came to pass in their life.
The most powerful blessing I see is the one where God Himself daily blessed His people. It is found in Numbers 6:24-26.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
This blessing, is powerful. This is GOD blessing HIS people, you and I. I would highly encourage you to take time to study the words in this blessing to get the full meaning of it.
There is, again, a time for prayer, a time for declaring and a time to bless. You pray for your children. You probably speak the word of God over them. But do you bless them?
You probably pray over your finances. I am sure you speak the word over them. But do you take time to bless your finances? If not, I think now is a good time to start.
The Bible says a three-fold cord is not easily broken. I believe this is one three-fold cord that will release great blessings into your life. Today, remember to pray and declare and remember to bless.
“The first day you prayed for restoration – it began that moment – don’t back off that truth.“ – KP
