While watching a well-known minister over the weekend, I was enlightened.
He was speaking on the point or moment of overflow. During his sermon, he used a simple coffee cup to make his point. It was as impactful as it was simple.
The coffee cup sat empty on a table. Water began to drip into the coffee cup. One small drop after another. This continued, drip after drip, slowly filling up the coffee cup. Finally, the cup was full, and it began to overflow.
It did not take a bucket to cause the overflow, it took one small drop. With that one final drop of water, overflow began.
After watching this powerful example of overflow, I began to see my time with God in a whole new light.
Each day, each moment I spend seeking the face of God is a drop of water in my cup. Each time I confess the word of God over a situation is a drop in my cup.
Now, that drop may not seem like much. I may not be able to see anything happening in my life. After all, it is one small drop after another. However, something is happening. Overflow is happening. It happens with the first drop as much as it happens with the final drop that brings overflow.
If I continue to seek His face, overflow will come. I will find myself dwelling in the abiding presence of God…if I continue to seek His face.
I don’t know about you – but this is good news to me!
Did you realize each time you pray about a particular need, it is filling up your cup? Yes! It is another drop in your cup.
Did you realize each time you confess the word, drops of potential overflow are released in your life?
Yes! It is true. Get a visual of that in your mind. See your own cup. Visualize it! See that each time you seek God, read His word or pray, drops of His goodness are falling into your cup. Drop after drop is filling up your cup.
One day, and it will be just like any other day, one day, your cup will overflow. His goodness in your life will come pouring out so much so that it cannot be stopped!
One day that thing you have been praying about will suddenly come to pass. One day that abiding presence of God will manifest in your home and dwell there. One day the manifestation of your healing will spring forth. It may not be the first time you pray His word over your body, but it will happen, overflow will come!
An overflow of His healing, His word, His manifestation of goodness. An overflow of His provision or whatever you have been praying for.
Galatians 6:9 says; And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Hebrews 10:36 says; So, do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward. You need to persevere, so that after you have done God’s will, you will receive what He has promised.
We have a promise from God. If we continue, steadfast in faith, we will receive the promise. We will reach overflow.
You my friend, could be one drop away. I could be one drop away. I know overflow is working in my life. Overflow is working in your life today. It is working each time you pray and I know…that I know…you are reaching overflow. Keep praying. Continue spending time in His presence. Overflow…is upon you.
Meditate on this:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
