Early Sunday morning, I had a dream. It’s the first dream I have had from the Lord in a long time.
In my dream, I walked outside to tell my daughter goodbye, as they were leaving to go home. On my walk to her vehicle, something unusual caught the corner of my right eye. I walked over to see what it was.
In the dream it was winter season. I could tell by the trees and the lack of grass growing in the yard.
So, I walked over to the right and much to my surprise, a garden was growing. It was in a planter’s bed made from wood. It was growing cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and several other things. I was astonished. I leaned down to see what all was growing. As I did, I realized it was seeds I had planted years before that were annuals – meaning they were only supposed to produce one year and then you had to replant them.
I also noticed there were things growing that I didn’t plant at all, like zucchini.
I yelled for Breanne to come look. Realizing she didn’t hear me, I began to walk toward her vehicle to get her. On the way, I saw another garden. This one was a garden of flowers. They were stunningly beautiful. There were carnations, daisies, and many other flowers. Again, I bent down to look at them and smell their aroma.
Still reeling from what I was seeing, I walked in my house to call my Aunt Sherry to ask her if it was okay to pick these things since it was winter? While on the phone with her, I turned around and saw a potted plant container hanging from the ceiling. It had grapes growing from it. These were purple grapes, and they were the size of apples. To my question about picking the fruit, my aunt replied, “Sure, go ahead and harvest them.”
Walking back outside, I noticed more hanging plant containers, filled with an abundance of fruit growing from them. One had something I first thought was apples growing, but as Brailee climbed up to pick some of them, I realized they were pears. Although pears are not my favorite, I took a bite, and it was the sweetest fruit I have ever tasted.
All around me was harvest. Some from seeds I had planted years before and some from seeds I didn’t plant at all. As the dream ended, I heard the scripture…
And when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you, with great and goodly cities which you did not build, And houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out which you did not hew, and vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and when you eat and are full. Deuteronomy 6:10-11
Harvest all around. It was a wonderfully, encouraging dream.
One thing that stood out to me as I took some time to pray into this dream was this; in the flower bed, there were all kinds of carnations, which are my mom’s favorite flower. In the hanging pot was pears, which is my daughter’s favorite fruit. I believe this harvest will be multi-generational. It will not only bless one generation but many. Therefore, if we are believing for harvest for our children, or our parents, or our grandchildren – they will all benefit from the coming harvest.
The New Living Translation says Deuteronomy 6:10-13 like this.
The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.
You must fear the Lord your God and serve him.
A harvest is coming. I am sure of it. It will be so glorious – more than we can ask or think BUT we must be very careful not to get our eyes on the harvest but keep our eyes firmly on God. We will be filled to overflowing, but we cannot forget the Lord, our God, who brought it forth.
I will leave you with one additional scripture I feel God gave me concerning this dream.
I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron. And I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name. Isaiah 45:2-3
God desires to bring harvest to His people. Not only harvest, but treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places – and – He wants to do it in a winter season where it seems impossible to harvest.
In the world today it would seem impossible that a GOD sized harvest could come during this time – however, as we know ALL things are possible with God and nothing is impossible to those who believe. Are you one of those?
Do you believe? If so, begin to declare His promise of harvest for you, and for your entire family. Call things that be not as though they are…that’s what I am doing!!
