I know I wrote on thriving yesterday, but bear with me, I am still on thriving today. I KNOW God is saying ‘this is our year to thrive.’
He confirmed it to me again this morning as I was running an errand. I turned on the radio and the announcer said ‘I know we are all thanking God for what He helped us survive in 2016, but now is the time to thrive in 2017.’
I thought ‘YES! Praise GOD!’
You were not meant to ‘just survive’ you were meant to thrive. I read a statement this morning that said; Surviving is for those who have no hope. That’s not you — not if you’re God’s child. You were meant to thrive.
I know this to be true. I see it throughout the Bible.
We all know the story of Joseph. He was betrayed by his brothers, thrown in a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, thrown in prison and left there for a long time. Yet through it all, the word of God tells us, he thrived. Every time the enemy threw something new at him, he was promoted and in the end, he ruled and reigned, just as God said he would. He didn’t just survive, he thrived. God’s favor was upon him and nothing could stop him from thriving.
Then we see the life of Isaac. Isaac belonged to God, Gods favor and blessing rested upon Isaac. However, that didn’t stop famine from coming to the very place he called home.
The bible says in Genesis 26 that there was a great famine in the land, so great that Isaac thought about leaving and moving somewhere else, but God told him to stay. Isaac obeyed God and remained in the land. And he sowed in the land. Now…who sows in famine? It makes no sense, but God said sow and sow he did. Genesis 26:12 says; ‘Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.’
Once again, we see God’s people didn’t just survive the famine. Isaac belonged to God and he thrived in the famine.
This is our destiny friends. Thriving is our destiny. Jesus came that we might have life and life more abundantly. Jesus didn’t come so that we could survive what the enemy threw our way, He came that we would remain in peace and thrive through it all.
Many people spend their days trying to survive. They say ‘just three more hours and I will be off work’ or ‘I can’t wait until Friday comes’ or ‘if I can just get through this month.’ Friends, that is survival mentality and it is high time we break that off us. Some of us have had it drilled into our minds and our thinking for way too long, it is going to take GOD to free us from it. The good news is that He can, He will and He desires to even this moment.
As for me, I will thrive this year. Just because I say so. The Bible say I have whatever I say…as long as it lines up with God’s word and this certainly lines up with God’s word. He wants me to thrive, I come into agreement with Him and make a firm decision that I am thriving…from this day forth. How about you?
