Today God reminded me of something that once took place with my granddaughter – it’s worth repeating therefore I am going to share it with you today.
One day, a few years ago, I was riding in the back seat with Brailee. Her mom was driving us to pick up Bryson from school.
All of a sudden, Brailee said, “Nana, look at my unicorn! It’s blue and white!”
I do not know why I responded the way I did, it just poured out of me.
I answered her and said, “No it’s not, it’s green.”
“Nana, it’s blue! Look at it.”
“No” I said, “Honey, it’s green.”
Confused, Brailee said, “Mom, is this blue?” Breanne didn’t say a word. She just looked at me like I needed glasses. The unicorn was indeed blue.
Again, Brailee put the little unicorn in my face and said, “Nana, look closely, it’s blue!” I answered her again and said, “No, honey, it’s green.”
After several times of this, I watched as Brailee held that little unicorn up to the light in the window. She was looking at it closely. Even though her eyes were telling her it was blue, she trusted her Nana. And if Nana said it was green, then it was green. I could see all this going through her mind. I had convinced her it was green.
I laughed and said, “Honey, I am playing, you are right, it is blue.”
I was amazed that she stopped believing what her eyes were telling her. She began to believe this little unicorn was a different color because I said it was. She believed what I was saying more than what she was seeing.
As I looked over at her, God spoke to me. He said, “When my people believe what I say, regardless of what they see or hear, like that child just did, they will have what they are praying for.”
Can we believe what God has said in the midst of seeing the opposite with our eyes? Yes, of course we can. But will we? Brailee doubted her eyes because she trusted my words.
How powerful is that!
I once read an article that talked about having a faith that excites God. I just love that! I have not been able to get it off my mind. A faith that excites God…that is what I am after.
A faith that will believe what my Father says regardless of what my eyes see. Regardless of what my ears hear. A faith that is immovable. A faith that cannot be shaken by my five senses.
I believe this is something we need now more than we ever have. We cannot partner with what we are seeing with our eyes or hearing with our ears. If we do, discouragement will overtake us. We must instead believe God’s word – HIS PROMISES – above all else.
God showed me something powerful that day with my little Brailee. He showed me that we can have that kind of faith.
We can be one that trusts His voice above everything we see, think or hear. It was a powerful lesson and one I won’t soon forget.
Romans 20:7 says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”
Many people trust only in what they can see, touch and hear. However, we can trust in God even more than we can trust our senses. We can trust what He says above anything else. We see it throughout the Bible.
God told Mary she would have a son. It was impossible, she had never been with a man. But what He said was more powerful than the impossibility of the natural circumstances. We know the rest of the story, she had a son. We call Him Jesus!
God told Abraham he would have a son. Again, it was impossible. But what God said to Abraham was more powerful than anything his body could or couldn’t do. Abraham had a son.
God has told you that you are going to give birth to some things. Regardless of how it looks, you will see those things come to pass. You can trust His word above everything else. Just like Mary. Just like Abraham. God is not a man that He should lie. If He said it, He WILL bring it to pass. Trust Him.
Just like Brailee trusted the voice of her Nana. You can trust His voice. He will never lie to you. He will never fail you. Trust His voice. His words are trustworthy and true.
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5
Trustworthy and true – that’s our God.
Appoint My Days
The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. I receive and submit to that resurrection spirit this day. Because His spirit lives and abides in me, I am getting stronger and stronger every single day. My eyes see more clearly. My ears hear more clearly. My mind functions perfectly because I have the mind of Christ. Every bone, joint, ligament, nerve, cell and organ in my body is daily being supernaturally charged with the resurrection life of Jesus Christ that dwells in me. Everything in my body functions at the perfection and wholeness in which God created it to function. That resurrection spirit which is in me is constantly giving life to my mortal flesh. My days are being lengthened, and my youth is renewed like the eagles.
