But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day. Genesis 50:20
This scripture has come to mind several times in the past couple weeks. As well as this one; And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
You see, I had made a much-needed decision to change some things in our online donations for the ministry. I had put this decision off for months because it involved every aspect of our ministry and I knew there would be a great deal of labor in it. I was not looking forward to it – but I knew it was time to make the transition.
One thing it disrupted was our recurring donations – those had to be redone, one at a time. And this didn’t only involve me – it involved my partners. The last thing I wanted to do was cause them any inconvenience. In the end, I had no choice.
When I realized that was the way it was going, I began to pray this scripture.
“Father, I am asking You to somehow turn these next few weeks for my good and for the good of the partners involved, it is Your promise to me and I receive it as done.”
This was my continual prayer and God answered it.
With each call made it was not a task, but a chance to reconnect with that partner. More often than not, God came into the conversations and they ended up being a blessing for both of us.
In my most recently conversation, God came in and began to speak until she finally said to me, “Kim, I have to hang up and go shout awhile.” I knew what she meant, our conversation was so encouraging. So GOD.
I have been reminded. It doesn’t matter what the task ahead is, if we keep our eyes on God, praying and declaring His word, He WILL, without fail, cause it to work for our good.
I have seen this wonderful promise once again in my life. For that I am thankful.
Last week I spoke with one of our partners, I believe from Texas. When she called, I was trying to do several things at once and to be honest, I was overwhelmed. Then the phone rang, and I heard this sweet, quiet voice. It wasn’t the voice that changed the atmosphere, it was the anointing that rested upon her. The peace of God that came through the telephone lines. It encouraged me, refreshed me and caused me to enter back into peace. It was wonderful. It was all God. I could talk to this wonderful lady every single day of my life.
In the end, what I thought was going to be a tedious task, has been a blessing. Yes, it is work. It’s not fun – but oh, how God has made His presence known in it and through it. It has been a joy! I am thankful.
God, working things for our God. How faithful is He! He will do the same for you.
I don’t know what task lies ahead of you – or what project you are not looking forward to. But this I do know, if you keep your eyes on God, He will cause it to work for your good. His presence will be in it and on you. We can’t ask for more than that.
Meditate on this:
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
