This past week, I was blessed to watch my grandchildren in an activity I love to watch. Kite flying.

I sat on my back porch and watched as Brailee attempted kite flying for the first time this year. Although I love to watch as they fly their kites, the first day is difficult to watch. Why? Because they do more running than kite flying.

Brailee and Bryson ran and ran and ran trying to get their kites to fly. Every now and then they were able to get the kites in the air for a few moments, but they quickly came back down. After a couple hours of running, trying to get their kites to fly, they were exhausted. They decided to give up for the evening.

That night I read a prophecy about wind that jumped in my spirit. The prophecy said, this will be a month the trees begin to shake. If you will step out into the wind when the wind begins to blow, then you will hear where you need to go. I am sending My people this way and that way! Amid the wind blowing, new strategies for increase will blow in the wind. Make a list of every way you’ve increased in the past. Then hear Me blow! My wind of multiplication will blow you into a strategy of increase for the future. (Chuck Pierce)

The next morning, as I walked through my house, I heard a sound. A sound so loud, I looked out my window. The wind was whipping. The trees were blowing hard. The word I read the night before came to mind. I knew God was speaking!

The day became busy, yet every now and then I would look out the window and marvel at the wind. Not only the wind, but the word I had read that declared the wind.

I could hardly wait for the kids to come over that evening! When they walked through the door. I quickly called Brailee outside and showed her how strong the wind was. I explained to her how it would help her kite fly. She was very excited, Bryson was as well. They both grabbed their kites and headed outside. Oh my! It was an amazing sight to watch. The wind picked up their kites immediately. Without running or effort, their kites began to soar! They flew higher and higher, above the rooftops, with no effort. They were ecstatic!

As I stood there watching the kids and their kites, the Lord spoke to me, “what a difference the wind makes” He said.

I could see the difference. Their kites were flying high above the trees and the house with no effort at all!

The Lord began speaking to me about the wind. He wasn’t just talking about the natural wind, but the wind of the spirit.

For months I have been seeing the same numbers repeatedly. Often when this happens God is trying to get something across to me. The numbers I was seeing were 826.

After seeing those numbers many times, I sought the Lord for its meaning.

He took me to Romans 8:26; But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

It is the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, which empowers us and our prayers to soar higher than we can imagine. To soar high, with little effort. When we have a situation where we don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit helps us by praying for us and through us.

1 Cor. 14:2 says; for he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Praying in the Spirit speaks the mysteries of God, directly to God. Praying in the spirit is the wind beneath our prayers.

Additionally, the Holy Spirit speaks truth to us. He reveals truth to us. He guides us into all truth. He shows us things to come, as we see in John 16:13; However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Do you find yourself in a time of prayer where your prayers don’t seem to get off the ground? Do you feel you are laboring in prayer? Laboring, yet seeing little to no results. Perhaps it is time to add the wind of the spirit to your prayers. You do that by spending time praying in the spirit.

Praying in the spirit builds you up! Jude 1:20 says; But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
Faith is the substance of what we are believing for. The greater our faith, the more capacity we have to receive what God has for us. Praying in the spirit increase and expands our faith to a place where we can receive all God has for us.

That day, I smiled as I watched the kid’s kites soar higher and higher! The smile on their faces said it all. They had discovered the power of the wind.

We too, have access to the winds power. The wind of the spirit. We too, can fly higher and higher with less effort. Just as God said, “what a difference the wind makes!”

He is showing us that we can have the results the kids had. That, we too, can fly higher than we imagined. That we too, will reach heights we have only dreamed of. We can do that by inviting the wind of the spirit into our daily prayer life. By praying in the Holy Spirit.

Today if you are laboring in prayer, wait for the wind. Spend time each day praying in the Spirit. Even if it is only 15 minutes a day – it will make a huge difference. You will know when the wind begins to blow. You will feel it in your spirit. You will feel the anointing. As you do, catch that wind and begin to soar in the spirit. Begin to soar in your prayer life.

It’s time to soar. It’s time to take flight. Allow the wind of the Spirit to take you to places you’ve never been to before. It’s time, can’t you hear the wind blowing? Step into it and soar!
