But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

For the past couple days a song has been in my heart, I am sure you know it, it goes like this; those that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles.’ I just haven’t been able to get that song out of my mind, therefore I decided to research the scripture in Isaiah 40:31.

To wait upon the Lord means to look eagerly for, to expect with eagerness. To renew their strength means to pass through quickly to new strength, change for the better. As I studied this scripture I was reminded of a prophecy I heard a few weeks ago. It was about expectancy. It said that many in the church have grown weary and are no longer waiting on God with expectancy. They have become complacent with the way things are and settled into that. While it is good to be content in whatever state you are in at the time, never become satisfied with less than what God has promised you.

Never, never settle for less when your heart is crying out for more. If you have been waiting a long time, make sure that you are still expecting God to do something amazing for you. For you see, this prophecy said that God will come through for you to the same degree of expectancy you have. If you are not expecting anything, you won’t see anything. However, if your expectancy is high and you are eagerly waiting on God, you will get exactly what you expect.

The Bible says that God has a good plan for our future, that we will see the expected end. I personally believe it is a truth that most people get exactly what they expect. But if God told you that you would get exactly what you expect, don’t you think you would work on your expectancy just a little bit.

The promises for those who wait on God, who look eagerly for Him to come through for them, are many. First of all, they find new strength. We have talked about being weary some this week, as you wait on God, as you eagerly look for Him, He will give you new strength. He will cause you to not be weary and to be able to rise above all your circumstances and fly, like an eagle.

But that’s just the beginning of the promises for those who wait on God, who eagerly look for Him to come through. Isaiah 30:18 says those who wait on Him are blessed, empowered to prosper. Let’s take a look at that scripture: Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.

You see, if you are expecting God to do exactly what He said He would do, it empowers you to prosper, in all things. It empowers you to prosper in your health, your family, your peace, your finances, whatever you need from Him, as you wait on Him, eagerly expect what you need from Him, you are empowered to prosper in that area.

Now, let me show you one more promise of those who wait on, who eagerly look for God to show up on the scene. It’s found in Psalm 37:9, but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

Those who eagerly expect God shall inherit the earth, the whole earth, it is your inheritance. You only need to expect and eagerly look for God. Isn’t that awesome? Yes, I love it, I don’t know about you but this day I am looking for, watching for, eagerly expecting God to show up and show out and be the God I know He is, One who is coming toward me and His reward is with Him.

Build your expectancy, if you have become weary, build your expectancy back up and watch your expected end come quickly. For it will surely come, and just as the scripture said, you will pass through quickly, through into your promise and into new strength. Isn’t God exciting!
