A Gentle Reminder
Over the past couple weeks several things have come my way that are challenging. Personal things. This morning as I drove to an appointment, I was worshipping God and I began to weep and said ‘God, I need your help with all this.’ He, tenderly and gently reminded me of something He said to me a few year ago. He said ‘the way out is through, the way out Kim, is through.’
It was not what I wanted to hear today, frankly it is not something any of us want to hear. Most of us would prefer that God would deliver us out of things instead of taking us through them. Many times in my life I have wished God would deliver me out of a season or situation but instead He walked through it with me.
When we look through the word of God we see that God did not always deliver, even His favored ones, out of things but He always, always walked through it with them.
One that comes to mind is Daniel. God did not deliver Daniel out of the lion’s den, He could have, but He didn’t. He was with Daniel in the lion’s den and did not allow any harm to come near him, but He did not deliver him out of it.
God did not deliver Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego out of the fiery furnace, He was the fourth man in the fire, He was right there with them, but He did not deliver them out of it.
God did not deliver Joseph from the prison sentence, even though Joseph was anointed to save a nation. God allowed him to walk through some things that are unimaginable to me. God was with him every step of the way, yet He allowed him to walk through it.
Isaiah 43:1-5 says; ‘But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, and I have loved you; therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you;’
We see in this scripture that God does not say he will deliver us FROM but that he will walk with us THROUGH.
We have promises from God. His word says when we go through the waters, He is with us. When we go through the rivers, they won’t overflow us – we won’t drown. When we walk through the fire, we will not be burned. And He says; FEAR NOT FOR I AM WITH YOU. He doesn’t leave us in the midst of the storm, He is right there with us. In the flood He is with us. In the fire, He is with us and that alone should give us the courage to keep walking through.
We all wish God would suddenly deliver us and He will but first, at least in my own life, He walks me through it. Ultimately I am delivered but not always as I would like and not always when I would like but one thing I am absolutely certain of is that HE IS WITH ME. He will never leave me nor forsake me. Knowing that I know that I can make it through and so can you.
Jesus said to the disciples, ‘let’s go to the other side.’ Did they end up on the other side? YES, absolutely! However, as we know the storm came in the midst of their trip to the other side and the disciples became afraid, they didn’t think they would make it. But the final outcome was exactly what Jesus had said it would be. They arrived on the other side and SO WILL YOU.
I don’t know what you are walking through today but this I do know; He is with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you and He will make sure you arrive at the other side. Friends, for some of us the way out is through….the only way out is through…and that is the word I felt I needed to say to someone today…the only way out is through. Therefore, keep walking. Keep believing. Keep standing in faith. Whatever you do, don’t make camp here – keep walking and you will arrive on the other side and every single thing God has told you will come to pass and manifest right before your eyes. Just keep walking. The way out is through.
