I shared in the March Partner letter a little about my renovation project. It has not been fun, to say the least.
It has been harder than I thought. Cost more than I imagined. And taken longer than I expected…much longer.
This past weekend, I was again painting. Once again, I thought, “I can’t do this another day!”
As quickly as that thought ran through my mind, the Lord gently spoke to my heart.
He said, “Go do what you have been doing and you will see what is carrying you.”
For a second, I didn’t know what He was talking about. The next second, I knew exactly what He was referring to.
Over the past few weeks, when I became weary, I stopped, took a break and read my Bible. Or I studied a subject that was on my mind.
When He spoke those words to me that day, I realized something. On the days when I felt like I couldn’t do another thing. I couldn’t paint another moment. I couldn’t pull up another piece of carpet. On those days, I didn’t realize, until that moment, what was truly carrying me through this challenge. It was the word of the Living God!
Each time I grew weary, In instinctively grabbed my Bible.
Psalm 119:25 says, “Revive me according to Your word.”
The word revive in this scripture means; to give life to, to nourish, to quicken, to cause to recover, to repair and to restore to life.
When I became weary to the point that I didn’t think I could keep going, I read my Bible, I read the word of God. That word revived me. It nourished me. It caused me to recover and it restored me back to life.
The thing I didn’t realize until today is…after I read my Bible for a bit, I was revived. I, without fail, was strengthened to do more work. I was progressing only because of the word of God.
If you dig a little deeper in the Strong’s Concordance you will find even more insight from the word revive.
You see, the word of God doesn’t only revive us in times of physical weariness. It also revives and gives life in times of discouragement, faintness and even death.
The word of God is alive and full of power! It will release life into any situation if you will only turn to it.
I don’t know what you are going through today, but I have a question to ask. What is carrying you?
Is the word of God carrying you? Are you turning to God and His word when you think you can’t take another step? If not, I highly recommend it. It will carry you through any situation. And…not only carry you through but the word of God will impart life and strength to you in the midst of it. I know this from experience. The word does exactly what it says it will…it revives…it imparts life… it strengthens, and it revives.
Meditate on this:
Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11
