One morning I woke up early and was trying to decide what to do with my day. I hadn’t made any plans but I really didn’t want to stay home all day either.
As I was sitting there trying to decide what to do God showed me something that I want to share with you.
I was pondering a city I would like to go to and visit and shop around awhile…but then I thought, ‘it is such a long drive.’ So I thought about another place I wouldn’t mind going but again it was a little over an hour drive and I thought ‘no, I don’t think I will do that either.’ My next thought was ‘I would really like to go there but I don’t want to make that long drive.’ I realized there were several things I would like to have done that day but not enough to make the effort to get there.
As I was thinking about this God began to show me that this is how many of His children are, they want certain things in life but they are not willing to do what is necessary to obtain those desired things.
It reminded me of a time years ago, something God said to me while I was praying. I was praying to God in this following manner; I said ‘God, I want to be a person of great faith, I want to be pleasing to you in all I do, I want to hear your voice more clearly, etc.’ All of a sudden I heard God say ‘are you always going to be a wanna be?’ I was kind of shocked. But it was a good shock and forced me to go from a wanna be to an I am.
Back to our motivation; as I said God showed me that many of His children wanted to attain certain things in life but most didn’t want to do what was required to get there.
Daily I get emails from people who want to be blessed by God financially but many of those people don’t want to do what is required by God to be financially blessed. Often they are not faithful tithers or givers, they are not wise with their money and they don’t consult God concerning their finances yet they expect God to take care of all their bills and bless them, it just doesn’t work that way.
Many people say they want great faith, yet they don’t have time to spend with God or in His word. They want faith but they don’t want to do what is required to gain great faith. The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. It takes time to build great faith and it takes diligence, it doesn’t come overnight and it doesn’t come easy, it takes great effort.
Many people want to be healed by God and walk in divine health yet they don’t make the decisions they should make for a healthy body. You can confess the word of God all day long but if you continue to abuse your body, healing will evade you.
Many people want a great marriage but they don’t want to walk in love and forgiveness. They don’t want to apologize or walk in unity as much as they want to be right. If you want a great marriage, it too, will take great effort and obedience to what God says concerning marriage, and who you are yoked with.
You know, friends, you can’t have a testimony without a test. You can’t walk in great faith without going through some challenges in life. All muscles are built by hard work, whether it is physical or spiritual.
If you want to arrive at your desired destination, you will have to be willing to take the journey. Your desired destination may be financial prosperity, if so, follow God’s word concerning finances. If your desired destination is peace in your home, if so cultivate peace, walk in unity and love and you will find that peace will invade your home.
Whatever your desired destination is, I promise it is worth the drive and God will help you arrive, all you have to do is make the first step. Don’t be a wannabe.
Don’t live your life without fulfilling your destiny in God. Don’t miss out on all God has for you simply because it is too hard or too much trouble. With God all things are possible and with God, it will be easier than you may think, just take the first step and begin your journey to your desired place in God. Don’t put it off another day, it’s time to lay hold of all that is yours; begin your journey today.
