A man has joy in giving an appropriate answer, and how good and delightful is a word spoken in due season, (at the right moment) how good it is!  Proverbs 15:23

Chances are, at some point in each of our lives, we’ve been on the receiving end of a word spoken in due season.

Perhaps you were encouraged by the faithfulness of a friend who had the perfect word at the perfect moment.  Or uplifted by a sermon that said exactly what you needed to hear.  Few things are better than knowing our God is so concerned with us, that He makes sure we receive that much needed word in due season.

I know this has happened to me many times in my life.  I thank God for those times.  I also thank God for the people He used to send that word in due season.

Proverbs 16:24 says; Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body.

Isaiah 50:4 says; The Lord God has given Me the tongue of one who is taught, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word.

God gives us words to help sustain those who are weary.  I love that!  Its important we stay open to this truth and obey when God gives us an encouraging word for others.

His word is alive and full of power.  When it comes out of our mouth, just as Jesus said, it is filled with life and spirit.  It will bring sustenance to those who hear and receive it.

Looking at Proverbs 15, we see there is an appropriate answer.  Looking at Isaiah 50, we see it is a taught word.

What does that mean?  That means as we stay in the word of God and in His presence, He teaches us, by His spirit, how to give the weary a word in due season.  Just at the time when they need it most.

We will not have the right words unless we allow God to teach us.  We must spend time in His word so that we have the right answers when He sends the weary across our path.

Friends, there are so many weary around us.  As people of God, we must also be equipped to encourage the discouraged.  There are times we all need a word in due season.

We need to be ready to share the good news of the gospel with those who are cast down and depressed.  If we are to share it, we must first be taught.

Today, allow God to teach you and guide you.   Allow Him to use you to encourage others.  There is truly no greater gift we can give.

Allow Him to fill your mouth with words of life to help bring healing to the weary.  Be one who has the tongue of the taught.  Be one who has a word of encouragement in due season.  As you do, your words will be sweet and delightful to the soul…and healing to the body.  What an amazing seed to sow.  A seed that brings a great, and continual harvest, for remember, he who waters others will himself be watered again. (Proverbs 11:25)
