In the past couple weeks, I have had a stirring in my heart. Stirring to step into something new.
The past few years, in my opinion, have been hard in the Body of Christ. We have seen so much exposure from ministers. We have heard tales of prophetic words coming from social media instead of from the mouth of God. We have seen those we trusted revealed as different from what we thought they were. I don’t know about you, but it caused me to question some things. However, it also caused me to reflect on many things as well.
When I first became born again, I worked for Norvel Hayes Ministries. We were taught faith daily. We prayed in the spirit. We knew the power of our words. We saw miracles, real miracles, on a regular basis. We worshipped God in spirit and truth. And, if you got a prophetic word, you knew it came straight from God, and you would see the fruit of it.
When all this stuff started coming out about ministers trolling social media to give prophetic words, I was shocked. I could not even imagine such a thing.
I feel these things caused many to distrust true ministers and doubt the gifts of the spirit. I can understand that. However, it is the fake that is being exposed. We must remember that there are still true words from God. There are still real prophets in the Body of Christ.
God is still a God that heals and delivers. He still speaks to His people, and He still speaks through others. We can’t allow all we have seen and heard to cause us to give up on those things. Instead, may we allow this to cause us to search out the truth and the real. May it cause us to press into God even more. May it compel us to develop a greater discernment concerning things of the spirit.
As I said in the first sentence, in the past couple weeks I have been feeling a stirring. At least for me. A stirring to return to my spiritual roots. To the things I learned and witnessed in the beginning, when I was first born again.
I desire to go back to a time of seeing miracles on a regular basis. I want to once again find a group of people who desire to pray UNTIL things change. People who will gather and pray night and day until the Lord releases them. These days it’s hard to find people who want to pray longer than thirty minutes. For many years, we had all night prayer and prayer that lasted for days, prayers for more of God and greater manifestations of His spirit – I miss those days.
It has never been my desire to go to church to be entertained. Nor is it to click something off my list for the week. It wasn’t to hear a good sermon. To watch a dance or a skit. To hear the most talented praise and worship. My desire has always been to gather with the Body of Christ to encounter God. To sit in the anointing of God. To be in His manifested and tangible presence. That is the cry of my heart – always has been, always will be.
Lately, I have been hungering for that. I am thirsty for those times to fill my life once again. I remember sitting in the floor of neighboring churches watching Kenneth Hagin Sr’s holy ghost filled camp meetings and being in awe of the move of God. I’ve been watching them again lately, asking God to visit us that way once again.
I feel strongly that is what God wants for all of us in this season. I know this is not a normal writing, it is, however, a sharing of my heart. You see, I don’t think I am the only one hungry for this kind of a move of God. I believe there are many more that want to see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit sweep across our land.
I know there are some that long to be in a life-changing encounter with God. There are those who desire to sit in His tangible presence. Are you one of those?
The Bible says, if we are hungry or thirsty we will be filled. There are some things God has put on my heart that I will be sharing with our ministry partners in the days to come – for us to press in for these types of encounters.
It’s time.
Friends, we must leave behind the exposures, the disappointments that came with them and the doubt they caused and step into the new thing God is doing. It’s really not new at all, it is who He has always been and what He has always done.
May we, in this season, see a full manifestation of what Jesus promised.
I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. (Jn 14:12)
Jesus healed them all. Jesus delivered. Jesus multiplied supply. Jesus raised the dead. And Jesus said that we would do greater things – it’s time for the greater things. I am ready, how about you?
