Saturday night, each time I would wake up through the night the Lord would remind me of a past season. I will quickly share that season with you.

It has been many years ago now. One day I was trimming some shrubbery in my back yard. I had on shorts and tennis shoes. All of a sudden, I saw an odd-looking spider go down my leg.

For some reason, I began to sing this song that says, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” Honestly, I didn’t think anything else about it until hours later when my leg swelled up to twice its size.

I had a friend who was a nurse who came by to look at it. She asked me about the spider, and I told her what it looked like. She said, “Kim, you were bitten by a brown recluse, you need to go to the doctor.”

I prayed and asked God for direction. He told me to trust Him. (I would never recommend anyone do this unless you are CERTAIN God said to.) This was a time in my life that I was doing a lot of fasting and prayer so I felt strongly that I could overcome this.

My friend said, “I don’t recommend that and if you begin to get red stripes up your leg, it’s too late, you have the poison in your bloodstream and you could lose your leg.”

A few days went by. My leg was huge and it had fever in it to where it was hot to the touch. A few days later, I awoke with red lines up and down my leg. My leg hurt, I was dragging it around. That night, I said, “God, I don’t know how much longer I can do this, my family is concerned and this looks bad.”

That night He instructed me to take communion, which I did. I went to bed with my leg hot and swollen, red stripes all up and down it. Nothing had changed when I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up and my leg was completely healed. The stripes were gone, the swelling was gone, the fever was gone. God had healed me. Overnight, the miracle came. I still have this little dot where the bite took place, but that’s all that remains.

As I said, that was years ago. Recently, I have prayed about several things, and I was curious as to why God was reminding me of the spider bite.

The next morning at church, I was listening to a friend teach about the names of God. She shared the name, El Olam which means the eternal God, the everlasting God AND…the unchanging God.

As I listened, I knew why God was reminding me of that season – He was reminding me that He is indeed the God who does not change. If He did it once, He can do it again.

Today, I would imagine each one of you reading this can remember a time when God’s faithfulness came shining through in a miraculous way.

Maybe you didn’t think you would make it through a season, but you did. Or perhaps you didn’t think they money would come through – but it did. Maybe you thought your kids would never change, but they did. Maybe like me, you needed a miracle and God showed Himself strong on your behalf.

Sometimes after you experience the faithfulness of God, life begins to throw things at you that you weren’t prepared for. The enemy begins to bombard your mind with a negative narrative that you can’t seem to shake. Or perhaps one hit after another begins to weary you.

If that is you, I ask you to go back and remember who He is and who He has been to you. If He brought you through once, He will do it again. If He brought healing once, He will do it again. If a miracle took place once, He will do it again. He is an UNCHANGING GOD.

Today, cry out to El Olam, declare that He is unchanging in your life and He will come through. He has never broken a promise to those who trust, believe and continue to pursue Him – He is not going to start now.
