There is a song that has been playing over and over in my mind for days. It’s not a Christian song, yet I feel God is speaking to me through this song and compelling me to go deeper in Him.
Only one line of the song is playing in my heart and it says, “I want you to know, I couldn’t have loved you better.”
As I have meditated on that song today, I wonder…have I loved God better? Do I love Him as much as I should. Could I love Him better?
Most of us hope to hear one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the presence of the Lord.”
I want to hear that myself one day, but I would also love to hear, “Welcome home, I want you to know Kim, you couldn’t have loved Me better.”
So today I am checking my heart and seeing if I love God as well as I can.
God makes many promises to those who love Him – and I will share some of them with you – however, we shouldn’t love Him for the promises but for who He is and all that He has already done for us. He is, after all, that loved us so much He gave His only Son to die in our place.
Here are a couple of the scripture for those who love God.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)
The above verse is one often quoted when we say, “God will work all things for our good.” I think it is interesting that this scripture says He does that for those who LOVE Him.
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Cor 2:9)
Again, this scripture declares God has wonderful things in store for those who LOVE Him. Not everyone, those who love Him.
So, what does it mean to love Him? Well, first of all, if we love Him, we keep His commands, we obey His word.
Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
This simply means we obey God. We are doers of the word of God and not hearers only.
Other ways we can love God is through loving others. And through our giving. And through sharing the gospel. There are unlimited ways we can love God daily.
Today, I want to ask you a question. Can you say to God, to Jesus, to Holy Spirit today, “I couldn’t love you better?”
I don’t think I can. I believe God is placing this on my heart today to compel me to check my heart and find areas where I am not loving Him well. And do better.
I hope this makes sense to you today – it’s simply what is on my heart, and I always want to share my heart with you. Today, let’s strive to love God better.
May we all hear one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant, thank you for loving Me so well.”
